What: Innovative teaching with citation exercises and more!!
Sheila Webber (Sheila Yoshikawa inside SL: Information School,
University of Sheffield) and Marshall Dozier (Pancha Enzyme inside SL:
University of Edinburgh) describe examples of teaching and assessment
from their practice. Marshall will describe an exercise where, in
their own words, students describe the functions and purposes of
citations as part of raising awareness and improving academic
practice. Sheila will describe an assessment in which students had to
argue why authors had cited particular works, to develop understanding
of academic research and writing.
