Virtual Digital Citizenship Exhibit for the May 26th NonProfit Commons Meeting

Joyce Bettencourt-2

Join us Friday, May 26th for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting, which will feature Valerie Hill (Valibrarian in Second Life) who will share info about the current exhibit on display at the Community Virtual Library alongside plans for a Digital Citizenship Museum in Kitely. Digital Citizenship is a topic of concern for all individuals at all age levels and requires a personal responsibility in digital culture.

The Community Virtual Library has been the main HUB for libraries and librarians in Second Life for a decade. Now, CVL is expanding to other worlds with the goal of connecting virtual communities as "resources" to share with learners along with landmarks to immersive learning environments. CVL is partnering with New Media Arts, Inc and will soon migrate to a new website. The current website with a calendar of events can be found at

Join the in-world group Second Life Library 2.0 to receive notices in Second Life.  CVL also has a google group called Metaverse Libraries ([hidden email]).

Valerie Hill, President of the Community Virtual Library in Second Life, received a PhD in Library and Information Science in 2012. Formerly a school librarian, Dr. Hill is a library and information science educator with a research focus on the intersection of information literacy and global digital participatory culture.
